Nutricosmetics - Natural beauty from within

Where does the term "nutricosmetics" come from? The term "Nutri-Cosmetics" is a word creation from the English term "Nutrition" and cosmetics. In dermatology, "nutricosmetics" are specially formulated products that are intended to supplement the daily diet with substances that have a particularly positive influence on the appearance of skin, hair and nails.

"Man is what he eats."

There are now a lot of meaningful studies that prove beyond doubt that you can eat yourself fit, slim and even beautiful. Or, depending on the diet, not ... "Man is what he eats" - or in other words: the external appearance of people is strongly dependent on their diet. Because beautiful skin, firm fingernails and shining hair - so the knowledge of nourishing science and Dermatologie - are dependent in particular on an adequate supply with special beauty micronutrient. Above all with such nutrient, which the body cannot produce with increasing age any longer in sufficient quantities.

Nutricosmetics for nutritional supplements

People are using the rapidly growing knowledge of modern nutricosmetics to exert a targeted and sustainable influence on their external appearance. Nutritional supplements known as "beauty drinks" are therefore very much in vogue - and have been for several years. Especially trendy are products that promise a tightening and smoothing of the skin and thus help against wrinkling.

Nutricosmetics prefer above all those substances that are applied externally to the skin in the form of creams or serums in classic cosmetics, but which usually do not penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and can therefore only have a superficial effect.

Nutricosmetics in the focus of science

Very good research results regarding a visible reduction of wrinkles when used as an inner appliacation are available for collagen peptides and ceramides - and this already after a relatively short period of use of only a few weeks. While collagen has been used for some time due to its known positive effects on the structure and strength of connective tissue, ceramides have only been in the focus of modern nutricosmetics for a few years - probably also due to a recently published, large-scale clinical study with particularly convincing results. Ceramides are contained in particularly high concentrations in the outer skin layer (epidermis) and protect it in particular against moisture loss. Among other things, the study showed that both the moisture content and the directly dependent elasticity of the skin can be improved by more than 30%. This was accompanied by a very significant reduction in wrinkle depth.

Nutricosmetics and our intestinal flora

Particularly intensively investigated at present is also the meaning of a healthy Darmflora on the appearance of our skin. "Probiotically" effective products, i.e. products such as yoghurt or kefir, which naturally contain a large number of different intestine-active bacteria cultures, should have a similarly positive effect on the health of our intestines as certain micronutrients already used in nutricosmetics, which serve our body's own intestinal flora as particularly valuable "food" - these are above all dietary fibres such as inulin or fructooligosaccharides (FOS).

Important micronutrients in nutritive cosmetics include hyaluronic acid, certain vitamins, in particular B vitamins, above all biotin, which is indispensable for skin, hair and nails, vitamins C and E as well as the two minerals zinc and copper.
